The multi-talented Kenyan artiste KING KANJA releases new single CATHY featuring the soulful Ava Lov and Big T. This comes right after his successful showcase at 2016 SXSX (South by South West) festival in Austin, Texas. The harmonious and melodic CATHY is an ode to inspiring young women to keep at success and focus.
CATHY is produced by Grammy-nominated hip hop and R&B producer Chucky Thompson, who also produced One Mic by Nas, among hit records. King Kanja says, “I love CATHY because of the message. To my Africans and East Africans, I want you to know I ride hard for Africa and especially at home in Kenya, the 254,” adding, “The song is inspired by Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One, who I met and worked with through his mentor, the late Tony Washington.”
The music video of CATHY directed by 1ST Impressions was shot in Miami, Florida. CATHY shows the musical and personal growth of King Kanja and working with Chucky reinforced his growth as a recording artiste.
Super producer Drummaboy: "Bro, you got something special on your hands."
Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur CEO & co-founder of All hip-hop: "I knew when I heard the music it was you."

Uber seeks Police protection as it opens up in Mombasa
Online taxi service firm Uber on Wednesday launched operations in Mombasa even as it asked police for protection after one of its drivers was attacked and his car burnt in Nairobi earlier in the day.
Uber Spokesperson Samantha Allenberg said the online taxi platform is “engaging with authorities and working to understand more” about the latest incident which saw an Uber driver flee a gang of criminals who later burned his car.
"Uber is in open dialogue with the authorities, and we remain committed to that dialogue in response to today’s incident," Ms Allenberg said in a statement.
"Any situation where driver or rider safety is put at risk is unacceptable to us. Safety, reliability and choice, not violence, are what continue to draw people towards Uber's driver-partners as well as alternative transportation service providers, ” she added
On its expansion to Mombasa Uber Kenya, acting General Manager Nate Anderson said with the launch, Mombasa joins the list of “smart transportation hubs in Africa.”
“We’re really excited to be launching Uber in Mombasa. Giving locals and visitors in Mombasa an affordable, easy and flexible choice to move around the city safely and reliably.”
Uber Kenya Operations Manager Kagure Wamunyu the taxi service would help “improve urban mobility in Mombasa, reduce traffic congestion and the environmental impact of vehicles at the same time.”
“Uber is a new and exciting platform that is changing the way Kenyans move around their cities and we are shaping the future of cities across the world. Mombasa is a cultural and economic hub as well as a popular tourist destination that has a need for safe, reliable and efficient transportation and we are so excited to be launching here,” he said.
Uber launched its services in Kenya in January last year. The San Fransisco based Uber is present in more than 399 cities Mombasa included.

Uchumi Supermarkets has announced the closure of five branches in Kenya as part of its efforts to cut costs.
The Nairobi-bourse listed retailer Monday announced the closure of the loss-making outlets located in Nairobi’s Taj Mall, Embu, Eldoret, Nakuru and Kisii.
“Their closure will enable us channel our resources to fewer branches and optimize operations for maximum gain,” said Uchumi chief executive Julius Kipng’etich.
In October last year, Uchumi exited Uganda and Tanzania after closing the chain’s entire 11 loss-making stores in the neighbouring economies.

Samsung stirs up the market with Galaxy S7 devices launch
Samsung Electronics East Africa have officially unveiled its flagship devices in Kenya with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
This is the first official launch of the devices in Africa, as the smartphone maker up the rivalry with Huawei, which launched their high end device last month.
Samsung and other high end smartphone makers are fighting the wave of cheap arrivals from chinese manufacturers that have in the recent past threatened sales in premium brands.
The devices will be retailing at Sh80,000 for the S7 and Sh85,000 for the S7 edge. The S7 comes fitted with a 5.1 inch screen while the s7 edge spots a 5.5 inch screen.
The devices which will be available for sale starting today were announced during the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona last month, with those who pre-ordered the device receiving a Galaxy Gear Virtual reality as part of the package. Pre-ordering kicked off after the launch.
“This year, pre-order was six times higher than that of the S6,” said Jung Hyun Park, vice president and managing director Samsung EA.
The S7 edge is cheaper by Sh5,000 compared to its predecessor the S6 edge which was retailing at Sh90,000 during its launch in September last year.
It will be available in black, gold and silver and comes with a power bank and a clear view cover with a two year warranty.
The device has additional features like the water proof and dust proof that was not in the S6.
